i was a guest for the UWA Autism Social Club earlier today, where i shared my experiences in the workplace, from the perspective of both as an employer, and employee.
i was a little on the quieter side today though (in comparison to my usual level). i mean, afterall .. new faces, new vibe, new "scene". but as it progressed, i became more comfortable and felt like .. i belonged.
maybe it was because of the casualness of the session .. sitting on the couch with the other members, and made to feel welcomed by everyone who (other than Monalyssa) did not initially know who i was.
maybe also, because we had Tynan, the other guest for this session, who did most of the talking too. i honestly felt good and was at ease, to also be on the "listening" side of the fence.
anyways. anytime i get to share my stories, with the high hopes that someone else can take something useful away, i'll always feel good about it. but instead of saying i enjoyed myself today, i'm going to say ..
i felt that sense of belonging, after a good while without it.
